Statue/Sculpture
Set on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty is arguably the symbol of New York City. Originally a gift from France to commemorate the centenary of US independence, it stood as a beacon welcoming generations of immigrants into the United States when nearby Ellis Island was the nation's primary port of entry. Reproduced countless times around the world in struggles for liberty and justice, the Statue of Liberty is a potent reminder of the power of ideas and the foundational myths in US history. Visitors can tour Liberty Island and ascend into the statue provided it is not closed for security or repair. Many people enjoy the free trip on the Staten Island Ferry, which passes near Liberty Island and allows one to imagine what it must have been like sailing into New York Harbor for the first time.

Times Square is a New York landmark. The triangular zone is flanked by high rise buildings and clustered with shops, with a plethora of department stores, restaurants, and Broadway theaters in the vicinity. Ablaze with lights both day and night, Time Square is overwhelmed by iridescent neon billboards and LED screens, each broadcasting adverts and promotion films from around the world. Throngs of people speaking different languages pack the streets and engrossing street shows can be seen everywhere. Virtual getaway!!!!! With much of the world effectively confined indoors to combat the spread of COVID-19, we’re increasingly forced to come up with new ways to entertain ourselves. It seems ages ago when you could go to the local cinema for a movie or perhaps take in an opera or concert. Many of us crave not just the high-quality entertainment but the comradery that comes with shared cultural experiences. Fortunately some of the world’s great performing arts institutions have responded with a wealth of online offerings. Performances of various sorts are prerecorded or streamed live, allowing anyone the chance to snag a front row seat at the Metropolitan Opera or the Berlin Philharmonic. Here is a partial list we’ve compiled to help you get through this period of physical distancing.

Best Experience in New York

Coming to New York, often seen as the center of the world, it would be good to complete the list of famous places to visit; Wall Street is the world’s best known financial hub, Times Square, The Statue of Liberty, Empire State building and Fifth Avenue. It would seem such a waste to miss any one of them and of course the operas on Broadway. In the evening, it’s awesome to have a picnic at the Central Park, situated amidst the skyscrapers.

New York Weather
The March to May spring and September to November autumn are warm, cozy, and good for being outdoors. Bringing along a light jacket is advisable due to the huge morning and night temperature difference. July to August are relatively warmer, and the beaches are particularly popular; do bring along something to prevent the burns. Come winter in November to March, the weather would be noticeably colder and snowstorms or blizzards are frequent, and therefore outdoors activities are inadvisable. The December climate is really cold and it is strongly suggested that you bring along winter clothing.
