Located just outside of Nanjing, you can grab a metro train to the outskirts of the city and then begin your climb, though it shouldn't be too difficult since it's not massively big or steep and there...
We saw the Purple Mountains while on a day tour of Nanjing. It was quite busy the day we visited as it was the last day of the Plum Blossom Festival and many people were taking photos. There were ma...
It was a wet day when we visited, although not drenchingly so. Took a Didi up to the observatory museum, which has a couple of interesting exhibits including armillary(?) and water clocks but explanat...

Zhongshan is often surrounded by purple clouds and so it is also known as Purple Mountain. Zhongshan and Houhu are in harmony, with a foundation in Nanjing. With the trend of “Dragons”, Zhongshan stands on the bank of the Yangtze River, covered in smog, and after thousands of years, it is still covered in lush greenery.
The number of kings and heroes, pines and multiculturism were outstanding in the mountains. Amongst these are the Six dynasty culture, the Ming dynasty culture, the Republican culture, the landscape culture, the ecological leisure culture, and the Buddhist culture. It is the “first mountain of humanity in the Chinese city.”

Zijin Mountain is located in Xuanwu District of Nanjing, also known as Zhongshan, one of the four famous mountains in the south of the Yangtze River. It is a place where Nanjing's scenic spots and historical sites gather. The national ecological cultural demonstration site and the main peak of Zijin Mountain are 448.9 meters above sea level, and the surrounding area is about 30 kilometers. The dragon, the mountain, the water and the city are all integrated. As a national forest park, Zijin Mountain has a forest area of over 30,000 mu, accounting for 15.6% of the urban forest area in Nanjing. Zijinshan National Forest Park retains a large number of ancient and famous trees and is an important scenic resource in Nanjing. Ascend to the top of Zijin Mountain in Nanjing, as in the evening, the sunset glows red and the sky is beautiful.
Zhongshan Mountain National Park towers in the eastern suburbs of Nanjing. It is also known as Purple Mountain. The national park consists of ridges and hills that run from west to east, covering a total area of 31 square kilometers and holding over 200 scenic spots. Three of the important sites nearby include the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, the Tomb of Ming Emperor Hongwu and Linggu (Spirit Valley) Temple. Zhongshan Mountain is a moment of quiet solace for the soul. To either side of the mountain roads, the lush trees block out the heat of the sun, making a stroll through this mountain paradise cool and comfortable like nowhere else. All of this natural peace is conveniently accessible by public transportation from Nanjing.

Beautiful area specially in spring
nature livers delight & full of traditional chinese monuments. Easy, green, peaceful place to be, when you want yourself to embrace nature.
definitely would recommend this place. Buy the 100rmb ticket at the gate. But again plan before the time or atleast have two days free... I thoroughly enjoyed the Meiling Tomb- one big beautiful garden with various statues.. Its really big so should take you about 1-2hours even longer depending on how often you stop and take in the views. Walking to the San YatSun mausoleum from here is about 1-1.5km so no need to take a shuttle. But again the park is great and there are a lot of trees that are nice and cool with many pathways so even if you just want to go walk around you can. Some sights do not require a ticket even. But this is a MUST visit when in Nanjing.
I think it’s very easy to spend a couple of days here - I only spent one day here and will be returning to Nanjing soon to finish my sight seeing! Beautiful in the rain but I will definitely be coming back in Spring
Extremely beautiful during fall!
