At the Bauhaus Square in Beijing's 798 Art District, Through 400 years, the ukiyo-e exhibition, you will travel through the Edo tour and enjoy yourself, savoring and lingering.
The exhibition has the world's most widely spread of Katsushika Hokusai's "Fuyue 36 Scenes" in the Kanagawa surf, dynamic lines, perfect color matching, worldly known. In addition to the works of Edo, such as Katsushika Hokusai, Katsura Kokubun, and Kitakawa Kuma, there are also masterpieces of contemporary ukiyo-e painters. There are quite a few authentic items in the exhibition for viewing, as well as some historical introductions and technical explanations about ukiyo-e.
I am very happy that my favorite ukiyo-e painting artist Kagawa Hiroshis "Fifty-Three Years of Tokaido" is also on display. Those who like to travel must have a special liking for this group of ukiyo-e works.
Interactive area: There is a photo-taking interactive area at the exhibition site, which is set up with a Japanese-inspired photo area, which is very immersive in the illusion of Edo. Large ukiyo-e cats are also super cute. There are also souvenirs for sale outside the exhibition area.
Why do I love "Thirty-three times in Tokaido": In this set of works, the painter Geekawa is focusing on 53 of the old days that Edo (that is, Tokyo today) went to Kyoto. The sights of the station and the accommodation. These include the starting point "Edo Nihonbashi" and the end point "Kyoto Sanjo Bridge", so there are a total of 55 scenes, distributed along nearly 500 kilometers. The difference between "Forty-three times in Tokaido" and "Thirty-six Scenes in Fuyue" is that the former is more realistic, and the market is more grounded. People from all walks of life in the picture perform their duties, shoulder-lifting, and horse-drawn carriages. Traveling by the night, crossing by boat... Combining the scenery and humanities of each place, people are more empathetic to travellers and passers-by in the Edo period. It is a very realistic painting. It seems to be still vivid, such as crossing . Especially worthy of scolding.
Ukiyo-e, depicting the secular, recording the secular world, on the solidified paper, with emotions, penetration time, penetration of light.

It is free to enter the enclosed neighborhood but be prepared to whip out your health kit. There's plenty of wall arts, statues and structures along the streets that are worth taking pictures of. Most galleries would ask for admission fees. It'd be good to take a walk around when the weather is comfortable. There are a lot of coffee shops, snack houses and restaurants around. There are also a lot of shops and book stores. Some are unopened and/or abandoned. Unless you visit every gallery, you won't see much art. It is more of a commercial area
The 798 Art Zone is a very inspirational area in Beijing. It's a mix of business and art. You can easily get lost in all there is to see when wandering around. There are a lot of artsy shops with handmade products. Overall there is a lot of art and creativity around in all of the little streets and corners. There are small art galleries and exhibitions you can enter for free. Furthermore there are plenty of nice coffeeshops and restaurants around. It has a cool industrial look reminding me a little of London or Berlin.
very nice place to spent a day. hyundai has an AI showroom which is worth a visit. all other places are picture worthy
If you love the vibrant creative scene of wherever you visit, the the 798 Art Zone in Beijing should be your #1 place to visit! Look through vintage clothes, see antiques in small shops, grab a coffee at the Soloist, walk around and see murals, and go to as many art exhibitions as you can! Everything about 798 is art. One of my favorite places to go to and see big and small artists alike!
One of my favorite places in Beijing. So relaxed and so many different things to see. A kinds of art. Graffiti, modern art or paintings. A lot of cute shops, where you can look for fashion, jewelry or small souvenirs. If you want to grab of coffee you can do that too, although it's quite expensive.
